In het boek ‘Amerikaanse Goden’ van Neil Gaiman drinkt de hoofdpersoon een glas mede dat ‘Wednesday’ hem aanbiedt, waardoor ze een verbond sluiten.
Heeft het die functie nog in de wereld?

Such that Merlin always had the quail ties of a messenger, I believe he will continue to communicate. Just as computers are magical in a sence in that it brought many of use together in all parts of the world, he will now bring us together in spirit with our ancestors of the past and kindred souls. Some things you might think happen by coincidence but then if you also find humor in something of a magical nature you can be assured that possibly Merlin has his hand in it. I do still feel him about, and don’t think he has crossed over yet, and will not until those he cares for are settled down. With that in mind I try not to think of him too much so as not to call him back Earth-bound, but on the other hand, it is not my believe that I have such power as it is his choice. So without remorse I often toast to him at the end of a day, when anything humoursly magical occurs which brings him to mind. I often reassure myself that all Merlin’s dear friends are an extension of him as well in memory and in love, and in that way he will always be here. I revel in that “fellowship of Merlin” in that I can reach out many who share that memory and like a common song feel uplifted. He is a seed of magic in all of us. Let us be fruitful with the love that has grown and pass it on, by being kind to fellow seekers on our paths and sharing what we know. In this way he lives on, in his quiet and simple way, like a sparkling shadow of what will become;) Mermyst Seastar

Oef, dat is schrikken!
Ik had gisteren een mail gestuurd met de vraag waarom het forum niet te bereiken was en vandaag lees ik dat Merlin is overgegaan!
Door omstandigheden was ik al even niet op het forum geweest (waar ik regelmatig anoniem rondstruinde) en op de site zag ik niets dat kon wijzen op het overlijden!
Kreeg er een knoop van in mijn buik, terwijl ik dus nog nooit persoonlijk contact met Merlin heb gehad! Ik moet zeggen dat hij indruk heeft gemaakt door de site, zijn reacties op onderwerpen op het forum en op de onderwerpen die hij zelf aankaartte… Wat moeten jullie hem missen, ondanks de belofte waarin Wiccan geloven na overlijden.
Het gebeuren zelf is alweer enige maanden geleden, maar uit ervaring weet ik dat dit niets hoeft af te doen aan verdriet en rouw.
Ik hoop dat jullie troost kunnen vinden in de mooie momenten die er zijn geweest en het feit dat jullie elkaar gekend hebben.
Veel sterkte! Ik zal af en toe nog eens kijken of het forum alweer in de lucht is.

Ik ben al een poosje niet op SC geweest, toevallig vanochtend en toen kwam ik er niet op. Later las ik het artikel in het AD over het heksensymposium, met daarin de opmerking dat Merlin was overleden. Dat viel even ontzettend rauw op mijn dak. Ik wist hoe ziek hij was en desondanks is het in mijn beleving heel snel gegaan.

Moge hij in vrede rusten!

Dear Hagtessa, I enjoyed your article should it really be!

In order to be sensitive, and work with the natural forces, you have to kill out ambition. In days of old it was all about listening and being aware in order to learn and work with them. This knowledge was handed down though generations from personal contact and upbringing. It is not in books. But anyone can learn if they are simply quit and dedicate time to being in and working with nature.

I agree with your article, and it is very well said. One of the best products of this kind of work is a personal empowerment. Once you you have a working relationship with the elements, you have learned to tame your ego, and it imparts a presence that is imbued in ones nature. Obviously you are there:)

Beste allemaal,

Ik wens jullie toe dat het lukt de scherven weer bij elkaar te rapen en daarmee verder te kunnen gaan. Zoals met alle scherven die opnieuw aan elkaar worden geplakt zal het nooit meer hetzelfde worden. Toch lijkt mij dat jullie hier een geweldige klus hebben geklaard.

Vanmiddag heb ik met een vriendin de put en het bos eromheen bezocht, en wat mij opviel was dat de beuken daar zo bijzonder zijn, zo vrouwelijk van vorm. Heel veel rondingen, de takken veel naar omhoog i.p.v. naar opzij (wat je vaker ziet bij beuken) en een paar hadden een heel speciale vorm, met een eigen ‘put’ of bron in de stam, waar ook water uit stroomde. Dat kon je zien aan de donkere plek op de stam eronder.
